WHO’S CALLING YOUR SHOTS- Senior school

The stats, the facts, the risks; this seminar highlights alcohol use and young people, looking at peer pressure, community and cultural influences, drink spiking, binge drinking and aggressive behaviour. This seminar provides young people with an opportunity to consider their own expectations and beliefs around drinking choices; as well as looking at how their decisions impact themselves and the people around them in a factual and safe way.

ALERT NOT ALARMED- Senior school

This seminar focuses on social safety. It asks students to consider what might make someone more vulnerable and what responsibilities people can take charge of, to keep themselves and their mates safe when they party. The discussion covers dating violence, party fights and unsafe transport.  It’s aim is not to alarm, but to inform and empower young people to own the choices and responsibilities that they do have.  Its key message encourages young people to make their social group a place where people feel safe to say ‘no’ without fear of social exclusion.

KNOW LIMITS- Middle school Years 8 & 9

Young people are risky beings, both developmentally and socially! This seminar looks at risk taking behaviors, such as under-age drinking, drug use, DUI and unsafe sex, that surround socialising and parties. It aims to engage students in an exploration of the positives and negatives of the risks that they and their friends take. Through a range of chose-your-own-adventure style activities, young people will be offered the chance to think through what risks they want to take on in their own lives.

FOOL PROOF PARTY GUIDE- Parents or parents & students

Don’t know the legalities on throwing a party? Alcohol or no alcohol? Do you worry about Formals, After Parties, House Parties?

This engaging workshop will provide parents with information around legalities, duty of care, and they key risks facing young people when they party.  Through an exploration of teen development, parents will be provided with strategies to support their young person to make safe choices in the ways they celebrate.  It will also enable families from within your school community to begin a discussion around expectations for teen parties, and commence the process of working towards shared party-safe practices.
